JAMB Starting Date for 2023 is here and Jamb announced in 2020 that Students who wish to Create a Jamb Profile and Register Jamb must register for NIN with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

Jamb has now made NIN Enrolment Compulsory for Jamb 2023 Candidates. It is true that you cannot register for Jamb 2023 without NIN. Hence this article guides you on how to get NIN For Jamb.

After a successful NIN registration, You will be given 11 digits National Identification number. This is what you need to register Jamb. Direct Entry candidates will also need NIN For Jamb.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is very important. Apart from Jamb registration, you need NIN for scholarships, to keep your Sim Cards active, and for important bank transactions. Make sure you have your National Identification Number ready.

You Can Register Your NIN At either any Enrolment Centre in Nigeria or at the Bank

How To Register NIN At the Bank [2023]

  • Visit any UBA or Zenith Bank Branch
  • Tell them you want to enroll NIN for Jamb
  • You will be given a form to fill in your personal details
  • Enter the country, state, local government, and town of your father
  • Enter the country, state, local government, and town of your mother
  • There is a field in the form to enter your National Identification Number, ignore it.
  • You can open an account with the Bank if they insist.
  • Submit the form
  • Ask when to come back for your NIN Slip
  • Done

How To Register NIN At Approved Centres [2023]

To avoid the queue at the Banks and for convenience, you may want to register your NIN at a center close to you. Where Else Can I register NIN?

Follow the guide below to obtain your NIN for 2023 Jamb Registration:

  • Walk into the enrolment Centre with a supporting document (see documents below).
  • You will be issued an enrolment form to fill
  • Applicant’s forms will be vetted by a NIMC Official to crosscheck the information filled on the form
  • Your pre-filled information will be inputted on the NIMC Software by a NIMC enrolment officer or the Barcode slip will be scanned by the NIMC enrolment officer to populate all the required fields.
  • The enrolment officer will ask the Jamb candidate to double-check his/her information for errors using the applicant monitor.
  • If the applicant is satisfied with his/her demographic information, the biometrics (ten fingerprints and facial images) of the applicant will be captured subsequently.
  • A National Identification Number (NIN) Slip is issued to you after processing.

How To I find Your JAMB NIN?

You will be given a slip containing your National Identification Number after registering NIN for Jamb 2020. You can also check your NIN by dealing *346# on your Mobile phone. The service costs just N20.

Documents Required For NIN Registration

If you have any of the following documents (just one), then you are good to go. If you don’t have any, then it is easy for you to get a Birth certificate or local government of origin. You can do that within two days.

  1. Driver’s License
  2. Voter’s card (Temporary or Permanent)
  3. Nigerian International passport
  4. Certificate of Local Government of Origin
  5. Attestation letter from a prominent ruler in your community
  6. Birth certificate
  7. Declaration of age
  8. Attestation letter from religious/traditional leader
  9. NHIS ID card
  10. Government staff ID card
  11. Registered/recognized private organization staff ID card
  12. School ID Card (private/public)
  13. Tax Clearance certificate
  14. Valid immigration documents

You will find the following information in the NIN Slip

  • Title: National Identity Management System, Federal Republic of Nigeria, National Identification Number Slip (NINS).
  • Tracking ID
  • NIN:  11 digits number
  • Issue Date: N/A
  • Surname
  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Gender
  • Address
  • NIN Website, email and call line.

Note: The National Identification Number (NIN) is your identity. It is confidential and may only be released for legitimate transactions. You will be notified when your National Identity Card is ready.

The NIN is set to be used for all transactions in Nigeria requiring identity verification so you’ll be using your NIN for:

  • Obtaining Jamb Form (when required)
  • obtaining your National e-ID card
  • You can use NIN Slip for interstate flight
  • travel (international passport application & acquisition)
  • opening personal bank accounts
  • getting your driver’s license
  • obtaining your Permanent Voters’ Card
  • participating in the National Health Insurance Scheme
  • payment of your taxes

6 Facts About National Identification Number

  • NIN consists of 11 Numbers randomly chosen and assigned to an individual at the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB).
  • Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given, or used by another person which makes it unique in nature.
  • In the case of the death of an individual, his/her NIN is retired once a death certificate is presented to the Commission and the individual’s death is established.
  • The NIN is used to tie all records about an individual in the database and is also used to establish or verify his/her identity.
  • All citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero (birth) and above are eligible to enroll for their NINs.
  • The NIN should be closely guarded by individuals and not revealed to all and sundry except to relevant authorities when requested.

Deadline To Enrol NIN For Jamb

Is there a deadline for NiN registration for Jamb? NIN Enrolment itself doesn’t have a deadline but there is a deadline to use National Identification Number for Jamb Registration.

The deadline for NIN usage for Jamb is the Jamb registration closing date. After the Jamb deadline, you can no longer use the NIN to register the current Jamb until the next Jamb.
